In July 2023, I was invited to be the Wordle Review July artist for The New York Times.
Art Directed by Kathy Lee, I was asked to create a series of five illustrations centering themes of community, logic, and games – while also designing around a template with the classic five Wordle squares centrally placed in each composition. Kathy and I decided on a combination of two ideas I pitched: textiles and patterns, and people enjoying summer in public parks. To celebrate the beauty of textiles, I painted the illustrations traditionally on canvas.
